on the unmade bed

"and that was called love,
for the workers in song,
probably still is for those of them left.

ah but you got away,
didn't you babe?
you just turned your back on the crowd.

you got away,
i never once heard you say,
i need you, i don't need you,
i need you, i don't need you
and all of that jiving around."

leonard cohen is touring this spring, and the thought of being in the audience with him on stage is mind-blowing to me. it is on my list of things to do before i die.

this song, it makes me cry. it just tears out the insides of who i am. and, there is something else in it, a story that i know i have been trying to write.

and tonight, dear leonard and rufus, you are my muses, as i put pen to paper and start the first page.

chelsea hotel #2 ~ rufus wainwright (intro by leonard cohen)

  1. No way, me too.

I wrote a story about Leonard Cohen based on this song. I had an incident at work with someone who may or may not have been Leonard Cohen.
There's an old post on my blog about it.

Great song and Rufus, what can I say about him. My good friend Cate is in love with him.

  3. leonard is one of my heroes. i hope that who you saw was actually him, but either way, it still is a moment.

rufus, what a voice. it just floors me.

there is such stories to leonard's songs. i am grateful for the gift of inspiration in this song tonight.

  4. I want to see him so badly. The only comparisons I can make in terms of other artists I have seen is Paul McCartney and New Order. It is that level of anticipation.
