romeo & juliet (live, abbey road) ~ the killers
"i can't do the talk, like the talk on the tv,
and i can't do a love song, like the way it's meant to be.
i can't do everything, but i'd do anything for you;
i can't do anything except be in love with you.
and all i do is miss you, and the way we used to be,
all i do is keep the beat, and the bad company.
and all i do is kiss you, through the bars of a rhyme;
juliet, i'd do the stars with you any time."
i'm sure i've posted about this song before, probably more than once, but i'm having another one of those days when i cannot get enough of the killers' cover of romeo and juliet.
i was talking to jules recently about shakespeare, and i related something a professor had once told me; she said, you cannot go through a single day without encountering a shakespeare reference - most often, one to romeo and juliet. they come in the form of romance, marketing, wine, music and other cultural (pop, and otherwise) references.
oh my stars, i love this song - and this version - so much.
